The short version: As an Amazon Associate, GiftCat earns from qualifying purchases. When you buy something through a link on this site, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. That’s how GiftCat stays free to use.

How GiftCat makes money

GiftCat is a free gift-recommendation site. We don’t sell products, we don’t run a store, and we don’t charge you anything. Instead, we participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com.

In practice, that means most product links on GiftCat — including buttons like “Check price on Amazon” — are affiliate links. If you click one and end up buying something on Amazon, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale.

What it costs you: nothing extra

You pay exactly the same price whether you arrive at Amazon through GiftCat or type the product name in yourself. The commission comes out of Amazon’s side, not yours. Using our links is simply a way to support the site if it helped you find something good.

Do commissions influence what we recommend?

No — and we’ve built the site so they can’t. Gifts are chosen first, links are added second. Every pick goes through the same selection process regardless of what it earns us, and we routinely recommend inexpensive items that pay us almost nothing because they’re simply the right gift for the person. A few things we never do, in writing:

  • We never accept payment from brands or sellers to feature a product.
  • We never invent ratings or reviews. When we mention an Amazon star rating, we label it clearly as Amazon’s, not ours.
  • We never claim to have hands-on tested a product unless we actually have.

How to spot our affiliate links

Any link that takes you to Amazon (including shortened amzn.to links and “Check price on Amazon” buttons) should be assumed to be an affiliate link. You’ll also see a short disclosure line near the links themselves on gift guides, gift pages, and lists — not buried in the footer.

About prices and availability

Amazon prices and stock change constantly — sometimes several times a day. We note when a page was last updated and re-check our picks regularly, but the price you see on Amazon at checkout is always the one that counts. If you spot a price that’s badly out of date or a product that’s gone, we’d genuinely appreciate a heads-up at hello@giftcat.ai.
